Allyson, historical thriller novel

              Allyson H

We are in an era of extreme hatred towards different cultures, and of immeasurable hypocrisy. When these forces collide, a definitive war will break out. Human nature will wipe out what the atomic bomb will not, with bloody hunts spread across the globe.

Memory

No one is ever right or wrong in historical human brutality.. but the present without memory makes us reflect.

                 Mike J. Monroe

World

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

                 Albert Einstein

The deception

The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later; in a dictatorship you don't have to waste your time voting.

Synopsis

Rome, 1978.
Writer Allyson Salvetti arrives in Italy to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a Jewish Roman family who vanished without a trace during the Second World War. What begins as a simple literary assignment quickly turns into a descent into hidden archives, fractured memories, and presences that no longer belong to the world of the living.
As she reconstructs the final days of the Verano family, Allyson discovers that their story is tied to an ancient secret—one guarded, feared, and deliberately erased across generations. Documents, visions, and unsettling encounters pull her into a labyrinth of shadows that stretches across war, politics, intelligence agencies, and the occult.
Between Rome, Europe, and the ghosts of the past, Allyson is forced to confront a truth no one has ever dared to reveal.
A truth that concerns her far more than she could ever imagine.
A historical and psychological thriller that weaves memory, identity, and destiny.
The first piece of a story that continues beyond these pages.

Author Presentation – Mike J. Monroe

Mike J. Monroe is a fiction writer whose work blends psychological depth, historical research, and a distinctly cinematic sense of tension.
With academic studies in psychology, criminology, and a Master’s degree in Ancient and Contemporary History, Monroe explores the hidden mechanisms of human behaviour through complex characters and morally ambiguous narratives.

Before dedicating himself to writing, he worked extensively in the film and entertainment industry as an actor and stunt performer, collaborating with Academy Award–winning directors and major international studios.
His credits include productions by Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney, Cinecittà, and legendary producer Dino De Laurentiis, as well as films directed by Ron Howard (Angels & Demons), Spike Lee (Miracle at St. Anna), Tony Gilroy (Duplicity), Pupi Avati, and Francois Girard.
He also appeared in campaigns directed by Dennis Hopper and worked on the acclaimed BBC series Rome II.

These experiences—between action choreography, theatrical performance, and high‑intensity film sets—shaped Monroe’s sharp visual style and his instinct for suspense.
His novels move across different timelines and perspectives, weaving together memory, identity, and the darker forces that shape human destiny.

Known for atmospheric settings, psychological realism, and a voice that bridges literature and cinema, Mike J. Monroe creates stories where history and imagination collide, revealing the shadows that linger beneath the surface of ordinary lives.

Maya

This feeling is familiar.
You remember?
Abandon yourself to the current, rest now.
Let yourself be carried away by memories; death will be sweet.
Perhaps it was like that for Maya: before she kissed you?
Do you remember his last smile, and the way it lit up his face?
The same smile, one who opened up hell on earth for you at that damned checkpoint.
«Jesus! Jesus! Come on, stop!», she said laughing.
«Tickling is strictly forbidden for soldiers, but being tickled is even more forbidden!», you answered, poking her with your fingers.
And she?
Maya was running away because she didn't want to get caught.
Do you remember how beautiful she was in her military green uniform?
Her somatic features defined her face in a whirlwind of overwhelming sensuality: her generous lips and long, black hair, gathered in a long, shiny braid, were framed by sea-green eyes.
A rare colour in the Middle East.
For her, you went mad with jealousy.
Nobody explained to you that a determined terrorist is trained to take advantage of any minimal distraction.
You couldn't have known.
Too young and in love to notice the car bomb left next to the booth......

Revenge

This collection of song lyrics began as material for a demo and gradually transformed into poetry, dark philosophy, and confession.
It was conceived, developed, and written solely to honour the memory of Amy Jade Winehouse.

I have always wondered about the roots of her self‑destruction.
Beyond the human DNA we all share—an explanation that might already be enough—I wanted to understand more.
After research, conversations, nights lived in London, and a taste of its beautiful chaos, I believe I finally grasped something.

And so this collection was born, written partly by a black‑and‑white crow and partly by me.
An imagined experiment: what would happen if the Queen, returning from her punishment, chose to shout her disappointment at the world?

I hope you enjoy it.
And above all, I hope it makes you furious.

Auschwitz

The train advanced inexorably and mercilessly, swallowing up the tracks, meter after meter!

The reverberation of vibrations preceded in tuning fork time the inevitable embrace of death!

Cold Sandwich                                            Backwash of love.

You and I, lulled by the sea,

I feel the sand on your lips,

The echo of your laughter echoes

Relentlessly in my world.

You and I together, like the sea breeze

that accompanies the waves

on the beach, retracting them with a gentle undertow,

carries my certainties along with the broken shells and the wet sand.

Between the unknown and the mainland, I live and I love you!

Did anyone tell you that life would be easy?
                               They lied!

Imagine a gloomy day with the incessant sound of rain falling on your house’s windows and concrete, and the tinkling of gutters being struck by wind-borne raindrops.
Imagine wearing slippers without woolly socks, sitting at a Swedish-style prefabricated desk writing nonsense and feeling your feet freeze because your windows are poorly insulated.
It is precisely at the moment when you are completely immersed in idleness and absent from chaotic and banal life that you reflect on the darkest dilemmas of existence.
But what the fuck do I have to do with this world?

Enrique

He asked a man wearing a kippah for information at the theatre entrance: «Sorry to bother you, but do you know where I can find the seminar of the writer Salvetti?».

«Obviously, it's here. You're late, and it finishes in a few minutes! ».

«I realise I'm late. Could you please tell me where to go to get to the hall?».

«It's the first staircase on your right. You can't miss it, because it'll take you into the hall.».

«Cheers, very kind of you!». «Sorry if I'm asking, but who are you?».

«I know the writer, but would it be an issue if I don't?».

«Oh, no, of course not, I was just curious!».

«Well, then I wish you a nice day!».When he got to the last step, he saw a big red velvet curtain.

From this height, he could see a beautiful blonde woman. She was wearing an orange skirt that reached her knees. He noticed her slim, straight legs, the wide belt that matched her white moccasins, and the close-fitting grey pullover that did nothing to hide her excellent breasts.

Allyson was talking to a group of boys and girls.  They were arranged in a crescent shape, sitting in the seats in the front rows, in front of her.

She noticed the man and greeted him like you would greet an unexpected visitor: «Better late than never, sir?».

Castelli Romani, Italy, spring 1944.

Rain fell from the sky in buckets, and it seemed like God was attempting in vain to stop the moving vehicle.

At the end of the road, a wrought-iron gate forced the car to stop. Its headlights blinded the dog on the other side, which was barking at the artificial light.

A German soldier, covered in a forest green rain cloak, got out of the car through the door on the right.

The soldier pulled a machine gun out from under his cloak, turned it towards the heavily padlocked gate, and opened fire.

The padlock broke, and with a well-placed kick, he forced the gate open.

The vehicle, laden with hate, left the dog lying in the mud and rainwater, sighing its last breaths.

Bertioga, Brazil, one week later.

Jesus couldn't wait to act because the inactivity inside the apartment, which was being used as an operational base, was depressing him.

The father, as was typical, vanished on the day after arriving in Bertioga.

He shared the apartment with a Team 4 raider.

This raider was from a sapper unit.

The unit was part of the Israeli Navy.

It was called the Shayetet 13.
The T4s were the most ruthless of their kind — the worst enemy and the best friend.
They were trained exclusively to intercept and eliminate terrorist leaders.
He was relieved to have such a soldier as a companion.
The general's next move was to launch a raid and annihilate the enemy, whether they were American or Martian, made little difference.

Israel's hard core had made up their minds.
One, that was the name of the soldier, knew nothing of Nazi criminals of biological foundation studies, nor of the transmission of the characters of racial types or of Jews interned in the camps.
He was there to do a job that didn't require knowing why, and the sinking of a yacht with sailors on board was right up his street.

                                                                    SCI-FI THRILLER

It could happen, as it has already happened, in a time without memory. Of meeting you, even if only for a few minutes or seconds, a recognition could occur, which does not necessarily require a fairy tale with a happy ending.
The energy we call soul does not demand a tribute; it does not grant us the right to make it exclusively ours.
But if it happened at an age where a glimmer of lucidity still remains, we would immediately understand what it was... In the few seconds that the light would forcefully invade the mind, the magic of an ancient fulfilment would take place, without any earthly or physical reason, pure light and energy meeting in a combination as ancient as the Earth.
Atomic love, after all, we all come from that place: Space.
My hope is to stay alive long enough to enjoy the show.
